Canadian Postal Rates
Updated January 21, 2014

Postal rates rise on January 14, 2013.

Timeline of Canadian domestic first-class rate increases:
Timeline
Listed in the charts that follow are selected postal rates of Canada during the Elizabethan era (1952 to present day). Rates that are shown include the first and second step rates for domestic, USA, and International first class mail. Four tables are presented - this was required due to the various changes in rate classifications and imperial to metric weights.

For full Canada Post postal rates and a rate calculator, visit the Canada Post website: click for personal and business (they are a bit different).

 1943 - 1971
 1971 - 1979
 1979 - 1988
 1988 - 2001
 2002 - 2009
 2010 -

Not included are parcel rates, special delivery, registration, subsequent rate steps, etc., etc.

Read the rates down the column; they are in effect until another entry is made below it. The bolded entries indicate those rates that had a single definitive available to meet that rate.

References: rate listings are taken from the set of 7 specialized "priced catalogues" published by myself. Click for details on this series of books. Thanks also to Andrew Chung, Harry Machum, and R.F. Narbonne for their help in completing these charts. They produced a Canada Postal Rates: The Elizabethan Period book, published in November 2004. Click for details on these rate books.

1943 - 1971:

Some twenty-five (25) years passed by with only 2 rate increases totalling 2c!
