RPSC Fellow

I am honoured (and overwhelmed) by being selected as a Fellow of The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada at the ROYAL 2005 ROYALE stamp exhibition held May 27-29, 2005 in London, Ontario.

To qualify for Fellow status, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria: they have actively worked for the betterment of The RPSC; they have promoted Canadian philately extensively through writing; and/or have, through a number of activities, made Canadian philately better at the international level.

I am the second youngest person to have received this award since its inception in 1961. Three others became Fellows at this Royal convention: Ann Triggle, John Peebles, and Hank Narbonne.

Unitrade Editor

Yours truly has taken over as editor of the Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps ... starting with the 2006 edition.

Work is progressing nicely on modifying the layout slightly and adding far more information on each stamp.

2004 Annual Collection Surprises
We were given quite a surprise when we opened the 2004 Annual Collection.

The three Christmas stamps found in the Annual Collection were not removed from the Christmas booklets!

The self-adhesive stamps in the booklets touch each other on all sides. Because the stamps are self-adhesive, "cutting" a single stamp from the booklet will require the backing paper to be removed with the stamp. The backing paper (also the booklet cover) contains coloured text and images:

However, the stamps found in the Annual Souvenir Collection have been cut with about a 1/8 inch border around the stamps. This border clearly shows that there are no other stamps immediately adjacent to each other. In addition, the backing paper for each stamp is completely white - there is not printing of any kind on the "cover".

Note: the stamps from the Annual Collection do have the same die cutting around the stamps - they are not "imperforate" (the image above does not show this clearly).

The Quarter 4 collection of stamps (quarterly pack) also "features" the same unique Christmas stamps.
